I-Cal 4000 features and benefits:
• Four (4) test channels, each with 125ml maximum sample size (~340g). Suited for testing cement paste, mortar or concrete
• Adjustable reference cells to change the thermal reference mass for each sample. Most suited for testing of a wide range of materials and sample sizes.
• Can be used with I-Cal Strength and I-Cal Set for compresive strength and setting time prediction
• Most cost-effective isothermal calorimeter. Adapted for small budgets.
Summary: I-Cal 4000 is for you if you have a small budget, or if you would like to purchase two units with the ability to test at two different temperatures simultaneously, or if you like to test a variety of materials and sample sizes
Adjustable reference cells
I-Cal 8000 features and benefits:
• Eight (8) test channels, each with 125ml maximum sample size (~340g). Suited for testing cement paste, mortar, or concrete
• Fixed internal reference cells. Most suited for reliable and fail-safe testing of conventional mixes. Also adapted for laboratories with multiple or more inexperienced operators.
• Can be used with I-Cal Strength and I-Cal Set for compresive strength and setting time prediction
• Suited for high volume applications, such as large formulation or mix design test matrixes
Summary: I-Cal 8000 is for you if you do high volume testing, or if you need a fail-safe equipment that offers a standard performance independent of operator experience.
The I-Cal 4000 and 8000 are Isothermal Calorimeters that can be used to test cement paste, mortar or even real concrete. The ambient temperature around the samples is computer-controlled by Calmetrix's CalCommander software interface, while precision sensors measure the heat flow generated by the early hydration reaction of concrete.
CalCommander is a user-friendly software aplication which is constantly upgraded and enhanced based on user feedback. It contains a suite of analytical tools to help with data analysis, report generation, as well as prediction of Compressive Strength and Setting Times, and the determination of Activation Energy and Arrhenius curves.
I-Cal 4000 and 8000 are cost effective, yet precise enough for applications in multiple fields, including R&D and Investigative work on concrete properties, and daily QC needs in Cement and Concrete production. Typical uses are:
• troubleshooting complex mixes with multiple admixture interactions - detect potential material incompatibility
• sensitivity tests on small variations in admixture or other material content
•determination of activation energy for thermal crack prediction (requires additional software)
• rapid screening of materials, e.g. different sources of cement, different brands of admixtures
• sensitivity tests on temperature variations
• mix design optimization and statistical performance analysis
